At River Road Family Vineyards And Winery, Healing The Planet Is What We Do.

About Blue Bin Wines

Do you personally feel...

An urgent need for ACTION when it comes to saving and healing the planet? Do your buying habits consistently favor environmentally friendly products?

We all make choices every day that affect our environment. But, more importantly, we all have a voice!

Through innovation...

And education, we are committed to bringing about meaningful change. We are committed to continuous improvement and passionate about making the world a better place. We encourage and enable others to reach for a brighter future, and together, we can make a lasting difference.

At River Road...

Family Vineyards and Winery, healing the planet is what we do. And now we’ve created a powerful, practical way for you to use your voice for good. For the planet.

Choosing lightweight wine bottle weight is one of the single most impactful things you can do to dramatically reduce your carbon footprint. A typical wine bottle weighs between 550 and 850 grams. This simply must be reduced! Our new lightweight bottle weighs a mere 52 grams!

We encourage you to make the alternative choice for your wine, to take action, and recycle what you enjoy so we can all enjoy the world a bit longer.

At River Road Family Vineyards And Winery, we have a long history of crafting beverages that inspire A Beautiful Experience®, Sip by Sip. For over 12 years, we’ve practiced a Kaizen approach to business. We’re driven by our desire to leave the world better than it was when we came in, and our beverages carry certifications as testament to our mission.

At River Road Family Vineyards and Winery, we grow innovative, premium wine that’s better for the planet as a SIP Certified (Sustainability in Practice) brand, a Certified California Sustainable Vineyard & Winery, and a Certified B Corporation. Still, we are committed to continuous improvement through thoughtful innovation. At River Road Family Vineyards and Winery, we had raised ourselves to the highest sustainability standards for what’s inside the bottle, and we continued to ask: what about the outside? Glass bottles account for 30% percent of wine’s carbon footprint — the single biggest factor – and less than 30% of wine bottles in the U.S. are actually recycled (The Washington Post).

In search of a planet-friendly alternative that enabled us to enjoy the wine we love with less overall environmental impact, we conducted a two year formal assessment of wine packaging. We seeked to develop the go-to wine for the eco-conscious wine lover wanting to enjoy a premium, sustainable wine that went where existing packaging options couldn’t go.

At BLUE BIN, Healing The Planet Is What We Do.

We’re the wine for eco-conscious wine lovers looking to go anywhere and do anything, while leaving a minimal footprint on the world. In your hands is our premium, sustainably-grown California wine, poured into planet friendly 750 mL bottles, made from 100% recycled materials that can be recycled over and over again.

Ron Rubin

Sonoma County Vintner

In 1971, Ron began dreaming about owning a winery, while studying viticulture and enology at UC Davis. Forty years later in 2011, that dream came true when he purchased River Road Family Vineyards and Winery located in Green Valley of Russian River Valley, Sonoma County.

Ron began his beverage career starting in 1972 with his family’s owned Central Wholesale Liquor Co. in Mount Vernon, Illinois, staying with the family company for the next 32 years.

In 1994, Ron purchased The Republic of Tea, a Marin County, California specialty tea business that his son, Todd currently leads.

In 2017, Ron funded The Maynard Amerine Wine Label and Menu Collection, at U.C. Davis, by providing the seed funding to create a searchable online database making the collection usable around the world. He also began the TRAINED FOR “SAVING LIVES” program in collaboration with the American Red Cross and ZOLL Medical Corporation. River Road Family Vineyards and Winery is covering the cost of one ZOLL AED PLUS (Automated External Defibrillator) unit per winery. To date, 422 United States wineries have joined this program with over 1,800 staff members newly trained in CPR, AED and First Aid.

Ron currently serves as Board President of the Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute and is a current member of the Sonoma County Grape Growers Foundation. In 2022, Ron received an Honorary Doctorate degree in Humane Letters from Sonoma State University. Also, he received the American Red Cross Presidential Award for Excellence. His winery became a Certified B Corporation, one of only thirty-three worldwide.
